Thanks to Ian from Sydney Nerf for pointing this out. I hadn’t thought to test the retention from the opposite direction. It seems fine when force is applied from the top down, but if you hit the grip upwards from underneath, the front of the blaster can pop out of the holster. I’m not sure the retention is secure enough from this angle, and the Diana certainly isn’t cheap. I’ll need to look into this further. More to come.
The HC Diana V2 Holster is a dedicated carry system for the HC Diana foam dart blaster, combining secure retention, quick access and support for the Diana’s clever magnetic Auto Hot-Mode Switch system.
The V2 holster comes with the required magnet pre-installed. When paired with a Diana fitted with the compatible magnetic reed switch / Auto Hot-Mode Switch, holstering the blaster automatically pauses Hot Mode. Draw the Diana and Hot Mode becomes active again, allowing you to keep the fast response of Hot Mode without leaving the flywheels running continuously while the blaster is holstered.
During a busy outdoor game, the normal Hot Mode sound may not be particularly noticeable. The magnetic holster becomes especially useful when waiting, moving between engagements or playing in quieter situations where you may not want the Diana running continuously on your belt. It also makes Hot Mode more convenient in general — holster the Diana when you do not need it, then draw it when you are ready to use it again.
Quick-draw Hot Mode reactivation speed test. Not bad at all.
Not a perfect test — I missed testing one direction.
The easiest way to identify the Diana V2 Holster is the magnet.
V2 holsters have the magnet already installed, while earlier V1 holsters required the magnet to be purchased and fitted separately for use with the Auto Hot-Mode Switch system.
There is no need to inspect the internal retention mechanism. Check the position shown in the picture below: if the magnet is already fitted to the holster, you have the V2 version.
The V2 also provides firm retention for secure carry. The Diana is intended to be drawn upward from the holster, keeping the blaster securely retained while still providing fast access when required.
The 10-Minute Inactivity Alert Still Works
The magnetic holster system pauses Hot Mode, but it does not completely power off the Diana. If the blaster is left powered on without operation for approximately 10 minutes, the Diana can still beep to remind you that it is active.
This is normal behaviour and does not mean the magnetic holster or Auto Hot-Mode Switch has stopped working. Simply operating the Diana or adjusting its controls resets the inactivity timer.
The Diana also has its own separate low-battery warning and protection system for monitoring the LiPo during use.
Compatibility
Designed for the HC Diana / Diana 2025 platform.
Important: The HC Diana Appearance Kit sold by PewPewPew changes the external dimensions of the blaster and cannot be used with this holster while installed. The appearance kit is fully removable, allowing you to switch between the two setups.
If you already own a Diana holster and are purchasing the Auto Hot-Mode Switch, check for the pre-installed magnet shown below before ordering. A pre-installed holster magnet identifies the V2 Diana Holster.
